In the great traditions of depth imagination, this is the encounter with the inner contrasexual figure — the inner other who carries the qualities we have not yet claimed as our own. We often experience this inner other half as a fascinating, mysterious, or compelling person "out there" — someone whose beauty, strength, sensitivity, or power we find magnetically attractive, even overwhelming.
