Our approach is informed by the alchemical concept of the Magnum Opus or the Great Work. Depth psychologists believe that ancient alchemists attempting to turn base metals into gold were unconsciously engaged in a psychological process.

The concept of the Great Work of Alchemy may serve as a model for individuation–a developmental process that integrates all the aspects of one’s personality into a whole authentic Self. Like the alchemists, who patiently and carefully attended to their transformational processes, we understand that meaningful psychological change often occurs gradually and with reflective consideration. 

Alchemy and the Arts offers a range of services including individual psychoanalysis, consultation and personal growth workshops (in-person and online). We provide a year-long professional training program for clinicians - depth psychologists, drama and expressive art therapists, as well as facilitators, coaches, and wellness practitioners looking to incorporate transformational creative therapies into their practice.
